World Book Day 2022.

Who was teaching your child on 3rd March 2022?

On Thursday 3rd March Castles staff took the opportunity to dress up as characters from their favourite books to deliver lessons and support to the students in celebration of World Book Day. Harry Potter and Matilda were seen in the classroom and Tigger and Valentino Rossi were even spotted driving school buses!

World Book Day is designated by UNESCO as an annual worldwide celebration of books and reading, marked in over 100 countries and is in its 25th anniversary year. Its mission is to help change children’s lives by making reading together and reading for pleasure a habit for life.

Reading for pleasure is one of the single biggest indicators for success in life. Sharing stories together for just ten minutes a day will encourage a love of reading for everyone! You can read together anywhere and everywhere, from breakfast to bedtime! In the park, on the train, at school, on the sofa, on a plane – reading and sharing stories can happen anywhere at any time.

We want to see more children, particularly those from difficult educational or social backgrounds, develop a life-long habit of reading for pleasure and see the improved life chances this will bring them.

Can you work out who was who?
