Alternative Provision Centre Manager / SEN Lead Teacher

We are looking to secure the services of a new Centre Manager, for our facility in Scunthorpe as soon as possible. The role of the Lead Teacher is essential to the success of our education strategy and in our ambitions to improve the outcomes of students across Scunthorpe and surrounding areas.
The ideal education professional will be a School Middle/Senior Leader, looking to move into specialist provision where they can have a more profound impact on the outcomes of learners in their care. You will be responsible for the line management of two/three teachers; who will teach English, Maths and Science; Pastoral Leaders (Safeguarding Officer) and also a team of Learning/Behaviour Mentors, who will provide pastoral support and also offer more "vocational" subjects such as Cookery, Sport/PE/Fitness, Art, etc. Students also have access to Work Experience placements during their time with our client, which provides an exciting variety of theory and practical learning for them to partake in.
Our centre, in a modern, vibrant facility with excellent equipment, will host up to 30 students on their roll at any one time; however, many of these will be on work placements during the week. Class sizes are small which ensures a high-quality approach to teaching and learning is essential to succeed. Our ideal applicant would be a highly skilled school leader (holding QTS/QTLS), who has a proven track record of engaging and managing young learners who have previously struggled to meet their potential in other environments. You will be supporting by a management team of three School Leaders with a national reputation for the implementation of Alternative Provision programmes; including an extremely well respected NPQH holder who is highly regarded by OfSTED for their work in turning around the fortunes of a failing school.
To be considered for this role (ASAP or January 2020 start); you must meet the following criteria:
* Holder of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS)
* QTS in English, Maths or Science would be advantageous - but not essential
* A proven track record in managing, supporting and re-engaging young learners with behavioural issues
* An open mind in alternative education
* The ability to liaise with external agencies (fitness professionals, work experience co-ordinators, etc)
* Patience and a good sense of humour
* A non-judgemental approach to young people
* A current, enhanced, updated DBS check (or be willing to undertake one)
* Be willing to undergo a thorough vetting and recruitment process
