SEN Behaviour Mentors

LOCATION: Lincoln and / or Scunthorpe
SALARY: £ Industry leading
COMMENCEMENT: Asap

We are looking to recruit three high-quality Behaviour Mentors; this is a perfect opportunity for an experienced, flexible, talented Level 3 SEN TA looking for a new role, or a graduate looking to secure experience before applying to QTS Courses/Teacher Training for September 2020.

Facilities and equipment in the centres are excellent - and our students sit GCSE exams which enable them to access Further Education after completion of Year 11. Students also have access to Work Experience placements during their time with our client, which provides an exciting variety of theory and practical learning for them to partake in.

The centre, in a modern, vibrant facility with excellent equipment, will host up to 30 students on their roll at any one time; however, many of these will be on work placements during the week. Class sizes are small which ensures a high-quality approach to teaching and learning is essential to succeed. Again, this is a perfect opportunity for an education professional who wants to make a real difference to troubled young learners, and secure a position in a forward-thinking company who are making great waves in the Alternative Provision domain. For truly ambitious education professionals, as the organisation grows, there will be management positions available.

Our ideal applicant would be a Behaviour Mentor with a track record of engaging and managing young learners who have previously struggled to meet their potential in other environments. Equally, you will be an ambitious graduate who has some experience of supporting young people. Perhaps you are a sports coach working with ages 7 to 19; or you have not secured a QTS course for this September? Either way, this experience will ensure you stand out from the crowd during the next round of applications.

In order to ensure inclusion and to guarantee as broad an experience range as possible, our graduates are invited to support (or lead) the more vocational subjects we offer. Football/Cricket/Sport, Boxing, Cookery, Art, Music - if you want to run a subject and have your own timetable, we can facilitate that.

All our staff are supported by a management team of three School Leaders with a national reputation for the implementation of Alternative Provision programmes; including an extremely well respected NPQH holder who is highly regarded by OfSTED for their work in turning around the fortunes of a failing school.

To be considered for this role (ASAP or January 2020 start); you must meet the following criteria:

  • A proven track record in managing, supporting and re-engaging young learners with behavioural issues

  • OR be a graduate looking to build solid experience and foundations in the education sector

  • Have an open mind in alternative education

  • Have the ability to liaise with external agencies (fitness professionals, work experience co-ordinators, etc)

  • Patience and a good sense of humour

  • A non-judgemental approach to young people

  • A current, enhanced, updated DBS check (or be willing to undertake one)

  • Be willing to undergo a thorough vetting and recruitment process
